April 2025
Teach a Trick!
At this month’s meeting, we invite each of you to step into the role of teacher. Every magician knows a trick that others don’t—whether it’s a clever sleight, an engaging presentation, or a hidden gem from magic’s vast history. This is your chance to share your knowledge and pick up something new in return!
What Can You Teach? It can be a card effect, a coin routine, a mentalism mystery, a parlour illusion, or even an impromptu bar trick. The choice is yours! Whether it’s a self-working effect or a knuckle-busting sleight, bring something you enjoy performing and are willing to teach.
Here are a few ideas to inspire you:
♠️ Card Magic – Teach an easy but powerful effect like “Two Card Monte,” a classic “Triumph” routine, or the self-working “Out of This World.”
🪙 Coin Magic – Share a retention vanish, a simple “Copper/Silver Transposition,” or Coins Across.
🧠 Mentalism – Teach a simple yet baffling mind-reading trick, like “The Invisible Deck,” “The 21-Card Trick,” or a psychological force.
🎭 Parlour Magic – Demonstrate a fun piece of stand-up magic, such as “The Professor’s Nightmare,” a silk vanish, or the classic “Paper Balls Over the Head.”
🎲 Impromptu Tricks – Teach a magic trick using everyday objects, like “The French Drop” with a borrowed object, a rubber band trick like “Crazy Man’s Handcuffs,” or a simple napkin vanish.
No matter your skill level, you have something valuable to share! Come ready to teach, learn, and be inspired. By the end of the night, everyone will have a new trick (or two) to add to their repertoire.
What will you teach? What will you learn? Join us and find out!
Mark your calendar for Tuesday, April 8, 2025 at 7:00 PM and, as usual, we’ll be meeting at OPICA (meeting location on the last page). Note that OPICA requires masks.
